In essence, yoga is a spiritual practice that aims to achieve balance between the mind and body. It is founded on a very subtle science. Living a healthy lifestyle is both an art and a science. It is said that yoga has been practiced since the beginning of civilization. Shiva is considered the first Yogi or Adiyogi and the first Guru or Adi Guru in Yogic mythology. Despite the fact that yoga was performed before the Vedic era, the great Sage Patanjali's Yoga Sutras systematized and defined the practice's purpose and associated information. Through their well recorded practices and writings, other Sages and Yoga Masters made significant contributions to the field's growth and preservation after Patanjali.
